So where do I even begin...

We got a call at work on Monday about potentially helping out a injured dog through our foundation.

The dog then known as Angel had been hit by a car and had some serious orthopedic injuries. You can read the beginning of her story here.

Since Monday the week has been a whirlwind for this beautiful dog. She was flown from Blairsville to Atlanta yesterday by Dr. Muller (my boss) in his private plan. Today she underwent her orthopedic surgery to repair her injuries from the accident by Dr. Greenwood from the Northlake Veterinary Surgery center. Angel now known as Carolina did great through her surgery! I spoke with Dr. Greenwood this afternoon and he said that he was really happy with the repair on her femur fracture. He said that she has actually broken this bone before and it had not healed completely. Carolina also had the surgery on her hip which turned out to be a little worse than they expected. Dr. Greenwood ended up doing an FHO on Carolina's hip. She was returned to our clinic this evening for her recovery throughout the weekend and should go to her new forever home HOPEFULLY on Monday!!!

This horrible incident has proven how much some people actually care. The dedication of the doctors from organizing flights, transportation, and treatments has been amazing!

Our Merial rep donated an amazing basket of goodies for Carolina which included :

a year supply of heartgard and frontline, a large supply of previcox (an anti-inflammatory), some treats and a few other small cute items. What a great gift!

While there is much speculation if this has all been done out of publicity, as just a mere stunt to get that Briarcliff name out there ... well yes to an extent... This incident has not only helped a seriously injured dog but has brought attention to the fact that there are other foundations out there willing to help animals, not just the Briarcliff Animal Foundation. However, these foundations strictly work off any donations and grants that they receive. By getting a foundations name out there we are merely able to bring peoples awareness to it, in hopes of getting more donations to in turn help many other animals.
