its about time....

I have been trying to figure out how to do a little trick with my camera and well I FINALLY figured it out the other day. Please do not think less of me for just now figuring out how to do this:

Finally figured out the color splash! Sweet! I promise that all my pics will not be like this... just some :)

On a side note I am in the market for a new camera. I need something with a MUCH fast shutter speed and would like it to be digital. I have a canon digital now and love it but it is definitely a simple point and shoot camera. I would like to upgrade to Digital SLR, I have found some for around $600 but know nothing about them so any input would be great!
